I count myself lucky in so many ways. One being my wonderful wife’s, Emily, love of baking and sharing her treats with her friends and family. She has a real gift for creating these confections with passion that shines through each pie, cake, cookie, and chocolate she makes. I set out to design a personal brand and website for her that reflected that passion and hand-made aesthetic for which her desserts are known for.
Her products melded nicely with a hand-drawn style that gave her brand an authentic feeling of home-baked goodies made from scratch personally for you. To push the “personal touch” quality even further, each mark is heavily illustrative and tailored to the “Mama Em’s” brand. The choice of pastel pink, baby blue and sandy tan matches the low-intensity of the hand-drawn style of the logo which portrays a sense of love and affection while adding a touch of modern style that is popular in today’s brands.
The primary script font mimics the charming style of Emily’s handwriting which I can only describe as “delightfully loopy.” This again lends itself to the personal touch throughout her products and goes nicely with the clean and simple secondary font.

The layout for Mama Em’s website centers around the beautiful products created in her kitchen and hand-drawn secondary marks to guide your eye through the site and entice your sweet tooth. The cascading photos of treats draw the user further down the page where a carousel of treats can be found. Each photo is an opportunity for the user to learn more about the confections and place an order. Emily is her own best advocate for her treats which is why she’s featured prominently on the landing page of the site telling her own story of how Mama Em’s Sweets & Treats came to be. This added personal touch we see throughout the brand aims to portray a feeling of closeness and warmth with the customer. This brand persona aims to create an immediate connection with the customer and yield return business.
Emily’s tireless efforts to share her sweets with her friends, family, and community are a labor of love and her personal brand attempts to echo this passion and warmth throughout the customers interaction with the brand and website.
